TELL THE WORLD WHAT WENT WRONG AND HOPEFULLY THE WORLD WILL GET BETTER
Always Happy to Help
Several weeks ago I popped into the George Hotel in Bewdley which is now part of
They had a special offer advertised at the bar which showed ‘Cod & Chips’ for £2.99
with 75p extra for some peas.
I initially had no intention of having a meal but this offer was tempting at the
price so I ordered two meals for myself and my wife when I fetched my drinks.
Being a trusting person I did not check my change or the receipt and it was not until
the evening when I looked at the receipt and found that I had been charged £9.80
for the two meals instead of the £7.48 as advertised on the bar.
Assuming that was just an error by the server I wrote a short letter to the manager
of the George Hotel and asked him for a refund but regretfully he never had the
common courtesy to reply or send me a refund.
If this is Wetherspoon’s customer policy not to respond to customers complaints and
if they are so desperate that they deliberately overcharge their customers and ignore
any requests for a refund than all I can say is that they should be thoroughly ashamed.
I will never trust them again and I will always request and check my receipt in future
and should the manager of the George Hotel or any of Wetherspoon’s management read
this then I just hope that they will hang their head in shame and donate the money
they failed to return to me to their chosen charity.

A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR This shows once again how easily customers and shoppers
can be mislead as the majority DO NOT check their bills and do not check the change
they have been given
Just watch them at the tills and they all take a handful of change and put it
into their pocket or their purse without even looking at it. The fact that they
are now all using barcode readers at the supermarket checkouts does not prevent
of being charged twice for an item.
SO PLEASE BE MORE VIGILANT WHEN YOU ARE OUT AND MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE CHARGED THE
RIGHT AMOUNT AND THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED THE CORRECT CHANGE
