IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL AIR TRAVELLERS WHO HAD THEIR BAGGAGE/LUGGAGE DAMAGED BY THE AIRLINES.

 

Following a recent case we must draw your attention to the following facts if your luggage has been damaged.

 

Upon arrival at the airport please proceed immediate to the Claims Handlers Office which is usually situated in the arrivals hall next to the luggage conveyors.

 

The Claims Handlers must then complete a PIR (property irregularity report) and they must give you details of the claims procedure i.e. airlines insurers or loss adjusters.

 

DO NOT LEAVE THE AIRPORT WITHOUT THIS INFORMATION.

 

When you get home you must then send the PIR and your claim, supported by evidence of purchase, WITHIN SEVEN DAYS  to the address  you have been given. DO NOT EXCEED THIS TIME LIMIT which is specified in the Montreal Convention as your claim will be rejected.

 

It is very important that you follow this procedure even if the damage occurs on the outgoing flight.

 

YOU CANNOT DELAY IT AND WAIT UNTIL YOU GET HOME

 

If you don’t have receipts for the damaged baggage then take a picture of your case.

In case the insurers or loss adjusters reject your claim for lack of a purchase receipt then submit the picture, together  with the manufacturers  name  and the measurement of the case and request that they pay you the equivalent price of a similar case or replace the case at their discretion.

 

A number of insurers or loss adjusters advise you to claim the damages from our travel/home insurance.

 

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS  AS THE INSURANCE EXCESS WILL LEAVE YOU OUT OF POCKET
